Tax returns & accounting in Sydney

Lodged on time, priced up front.

Returns, financial statements and activity statements — the work that has to happen every year. Because the scope is predictable, we publish our fees and quote a fixed fee before starting. Use the estimator for an indicative range.

What this covers

Individual returns — salary, investments, rentals, shares, crypto, foreign income
Sole trader and partnership accounts and returns
Company and trust financial statements, returns and distribution minutes
Activity statements: BAS, IAS, GST and PAYG instalments
Catch-up lodgements where several years need bringing up to date at once
Fringe benefits tax returns, and payroll tax lodgements and reconciliations
Land tax registrations, assessments and objections
ASIC services as an ASIC registered agent: annual company statements at $200 a year plus ASIC's own annual review fee, officeholder, shareholder and address changes, and new company registrations
An extended lodgement deadline for most clients, through our tax agent lodgement program

When people come to us

You want a fixed fee rather than an invoice that arrives afterwards
Several years are unlodged and you want to catch up before the ATO contacts you
Your affairs have grown past what a self-lodged return handles well
You are changing accountants and want the transition handled
You want the deadline extension that comes with being on an agent list

Every individual and business has annual compliance obligations. We price this work openly, lodge on time, and don’t add charges for advice you didn’t ask for.

The prices on this page are where our fees start. A straightforward individual return is $200. A company with clean records is $3,000 for financial statements and the return. Where your position is more involved — multiple entities, unreconciled books, several years outstanding — we look at the file and quote a fixed fee before we begin, so the invoice is never a surprise.

Because we lodge as your registered tax agent, most clients receive an extended lodgement deadline.

What the fee includes

Preparation, review and lodgement of the return and financial statements in scope
Reconciliation of your ATO integrated client account and confirmation of the balance
A written summary of the result before lodgement, so nothing is filed without your sign-off
Workpapers retained so the following year is faster and cheaper
Quick questions during the year at no extra charge

What it does not include

Bookkeeping and BAS, which is a separate monthly service
Advisory work on transactions or structure, scoped and quoted separately
ATO audits, reviews and objections beyond routine correspondence
Catch-up of prior years, quoted once we have seen what is outstanding

We can quote separately for anything excluded. We won’t do or bill work outside the agreed scope without your approval.

What we need from you

Sending these at the start is the best way to get the work done quickly. The checklists set them out in full.

Last lodged return and notice of assessment for each entity
Access to the accounting file, or the trial balance and general ledger
Bank, loan and investment statements covering the full year
Dividend, distribution and disposal records
For trusts, the signed resolution for the year; for companies, loan account details

How it works

01
Estimate it yourself
The online estimator gives an indicative range. No personal details needed.
02
A fixed fee in writing
Once we have seen the actual position, you get a fixed fee before any work starts.
03
Lodged, with the file kept
Prepared, reviewed, lodged, and the workpapers retained so next year is faster.
Fees
Individuals from $200 · Sole traders from $1,000 · Companies and trusts from $3,000

We quote a fixed fee in writing before work starts. Complex structures, catch-up years and multiple entities cost more, and we’ll tell you before we begin.

Common questions

How much does a tax return cost?
Individuals from $200. Sole traders with a rental or business schedule from $1,000. A company with financial statements from $3,000. A company plus a family trust from $6,000 across the group.
I have several years outstanding. What happens?
We obtain your full ATO lodgement history, prepare the oldest year first so losses flow correctly, and request remission of failure-to-lodge penalties in writing with the lodgements. A payment arrangement is negotiated once the real liability is known.
Will I get an extended deadline?
Most clients do, provided you are on our tax agent list in time and your prior years are up to date. We confirm your specific date when you engage.
Can you look after our company's ASIC obligations?
Yes. As an ASIC registered agent we handle annual company statements and review dates, changes to officeholders, shareholders and addresses, and new company registrations. Annual ASIC returns are $200 a year, plus ASIC's own annual review fee.

About

A Sydney practice since 1974.

Tsia Partners is a Sydney chartered accounting and tax practice working with individuals and businesses across Australia. We handle the annual compliance work and advise on the decisions around it. We have kept the practice small so a principal stays responsible for your work.

Many clients have been with us for decades, through business sales, family changes and the occasional ATO review.

Our history

The practice began in 1974 as L K Tsia Chartered Accountants, founded by Loi Kah Tsia. Tsia Partners was formed in 2019 to continue that work, led by Jia Hao Tsia.

Founder

Loi Kah Tsia

Known to clients as Tom
BComm, FCA, FCPA — Tax Agent and Registered Auditor

Tom was born in Sandakan, Sabah, in 1947. He grew up in Malaysia and came to Australia on his own to study. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant he worked in other firms for several years, and in 1974, with the support of his wife, he opened his own practice, L K Tsia Chartered Accountants, in Sydney.

Over more than forty-five years he advised charities, unions and employer associations, manufacturers, family businesses and individuals. Many of those clients are still with the practice today.

He worked to three principles, and Tsia Partners still does:

Client first
Honesty
Responsibility
